SOLO frequently asked questions

What do I need to get started?
Solo is designed to operate with minimal expense and then allows you to add more if you choose. All you need is one solo unit per pair and a standard television with s-video to use as the monitor. You must hang the monitor in a safe manor before you start the instalation process.

Do I need a computer to operate the system?
No. You can add that and the additional software packages to fit your budget and your needs.

Can I add that later?
Yes. All additional options can be added at any time, this allows you to start with a minimal investment and add to your system as your revenue grows.

What electrical needs are there?
You will need a 110 volt circuit along the back wall for the solo power supply and another along the ceiling where you plan to hang your monitors. These should also be isolated grounded circuits and there should be a separate breaker for the back wall and another for the monitors. If you add a front desk, the outlet for the computer should be added to this isolated circuit as well. Your ebonite vantech rep will provide diagrams to help with this. Keep in mind that if you are removing an older system these electrical requirments are probably already in place.

Do I need 110 volts for the key pad?
No. All wiring to the key pad is low voltage communication wire.

I have a concrete floor how do I get the wire from the back of the aproach to the key pad?
If your center had scoring there will be a wire channel that runs under the back of the approach to the old scoring unit, you can reuse that. If your center does not have that you will need to purchase a wire channel that lays on the surface of the floor but will protect the wires.

I do not want to install this myself?
Ebonite vantech has certified installers in most parts of the country. You can have our installers do it or you can find outside installers to help. Solo does come with avery coprehensive manual that takes you thru each step in detail with picture examples.

What type of television can I use?
The only thing you need are units that are s-video capable. S-video is on virtually every television you can buy. For you this means you can purchase standard televisions or you can purchase larger lcd units, solo lets you choose!!!

How do I hang the monitors?
If you have a center that already has scoring in it, look above the ceiling tile and see how they hung the old units, then depending on what you purchase for monitors we recomned that you purchase the refered hanging unit for that monitor. You may need to build some support in the attic areas to hold these. Ebonite Vantech also recomends that you have a structural engineer certify how you hang the monitors. This is for your saftey and the safety of your customers.

If I don’t purchase any software what will solo do for me?
With no additional software there is no lane control from the front desk, this means that when open bowlers come in they will need to enter names at the key pad. Solo will start to score on the first ball rolled. You will have the extra features of replay of the last ball and ball speed indication and you will be able to adlust cameras from the key pad. For league bowlers, they will also need to enter names at the key pad and they will be allowed to enter handicaps as well.

Will I be able to print score sheets?
No. In order to have that feature you would need to add the lane control software. You would also need a computer with Windows XP and a network cable kit. You may purchase your own computer or purchase from Ebonite Vantech. Again, solo lets you choose!!!

If I add the point of sale software can I operate a cash drawer and reciept printer?
Yes. You can either purchase those items on your own or from Ebonite Vantech. Solo lets you choose!!!

Will I need training to operate the software?
You should not need additional training as the manual covers everything to get started. Once solo software is loaded you will find extensive help files that will take you thru every part of set up and operation. Solo keeps everything at your fingertips.

Are there graphics in the software package?
Yes. When you add the lane control package there is a great graphics package included.

Can I do in center advertising?
Yes. This also is included in the control lane software.
